Adult Sedation Practitioner
Dr van Vuuren has been providing Conscious Sedation full time in the UK since November 1998 (when legislation prohibited the provision of General Anaesthesia out of the hospital setting.) He qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Pretoria in 1983 and has been resident in the UK since 1993, providing general anaesthetic and sedation in dental & cosmetic practice.
He obtained a diploma in sedation and pain control from the University of Stellenbosch in 2002 and in 2006 completed a Masters degree in paediatric sedation from the University of the Western Cape under auspices of Professor JA Roelofse. Dr van Vuuren
is a STAC (Sedation Training Accreditation Committee- Dental Faculties of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and the Royal College of Anaesthetists) clinical supervisor for dental sedation.
He is a member of the Association of Dental Anaesthetists and SAAD. Dr van Vuuren holds an ALS, ILS and PILS certification and actively participates and attends sedation related conferences and meetings.
